Two Weeks Notice

If you have the time to spare and care for entertainment, then this is the film to watch. The movie won't have you in peels of laughter but will definitely leave you with a healthy feeling for both Sandra Bullock (she's also the producer) and Hugh Grant are in their elements.

Bullock as Lucy Kelson, a successful attorney with strong leftist leanings, enters into a deal with super rich bachelor developer George Wade (Grant). She'll be his counsel in the company while his network helps her realise her various causes. One being preventing the demolition of Coney Island community centre which is not only of architectural important, it also supports a family culture in the neighbourhood.

So far, so good. But the trouble is Wade just doesn't treat Kelson as attorney! Increasingly she finds her every waking hour (and night!) disturbed by his frantic calls for help. That's it! After protesting seamlessly, she finally gives him a 'two weeks notice'. Not to be taken in, Wade insists she find him a 'good' substitute. The search ends with an ambitious yet inexperienced law grad (Alicia Witt).

Both Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock know their jobs and share a comfortable rapport which is for all to see. The movie's complete lack of sexual adventures might put a few people off though. If you've seen Miss Congeniality, you'll agree Marc Lawrence (who scripted it) has a thing for comedy who debuts as a director here apart from scripting it.
