To keep the memories of Jamphel Yeshi alive, Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) - the largest pro- independence group in exile will very soon raise a remembrance plaque on his name at Dharamsala.
“We will be raising a remembrance in memory of “martyr” Jamphel Yeshi,” announced TYC President, Tsewang Rigzin during 49th day mass prayer for Yeshi and other people who made their supreme sacrifice for the half a century old Tibetan cause. The 11th Kyabje Kirti Rinpoche Lobsang Tenzin Jigme Yeshi Gyamtso Pal Sangpo, the spiritual head of the Kirti Monastery presided over the prayer services.
Born in Kham Tawu, Jamphel Yeshi had escaped to India in 2006 and studied at the Tibetan Transit School in Dharamshala for nearly three and a half years. He has been living in Delhi for the last two years and has actively participated in many of the political activities organised by the TYC and other Tibetan organisations.
Yeshi had set himself on fire on March 26, in an apparent protest against the continued Chinese occupation of Tibet in front of hundreds of Tibetans who had converged from all over India at Jantar Mantar to protest Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to India. He later died of burn injuries on March 28.

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile, informing about the memorial to be raised, Rigzin told that it would be martyr pillar and TYC was exploring a suitable place to set up the memorial.
Rigzin further told that TYC also has some belongings of Jamphel Yeshi and some remains of his charred cloths which will be preserved by TYC.
“We will preserve some of his belongings and remains of his burnt cloths and when Tibet will be a free country we will give these remains to the museum to be built in Independent Tibet in memory of martyrs,” said Rigzin.
