UAD Secy tells IMC to shore up revenue

During a meeting with the IMC brass this afternoon, Sewaram stressed the need for public participation in developmental tasks, as this would reduce the civic body’s fiscal burden. The UAD Secretary also urged the Corporation to devise ways to boost its coffers and called for reviewing the costs of distributing Narmada water and the income generated by the project ‘at all levels’.

Mayor Uma Shashi Sharma, Municipal Commissioner Vinod Sharma, Additional Municipal Commissioners Kumar Purshottam and K R Jain and Project Manager of Project Implementation Unit UWSEIP Prabhash Sankhla were among those present at the meet held at the mayoral conference hall.

The Secretary was introduced to Narmada project officials and asked probing questions to gauge the progress made under the ADB-assisted water supply project. He directed the officials to ensure the completion of the scheme within the specified timeframe.

The UAD Secretary directed the IMC Commissioner to erect boards at the sites of all civic infrastructure development projects listing the name of the scheme, cost, executing agency and scheduled date of completion adding that this would help increase transparency.
