Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray is said to have hinted at calling off talks with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), if they continue mounting pressure over “unreasonable” number of seats, at a meeting of party office-bearers on Saturday evening.

According to a senior Sena leader, Thackeray apparently has told them that the BJP’s demand for more seats is unreasonable and that after giving seats to the RPI and other small allies, the Shiv Sena will be left with very few seats.

Earlier this month, BJP president Amit Shah had met Thackeray and it seemed that the issues were sorted out. But despite the marathon meetings between Uddhav and BJP state president Devendra Fadnavis and BJP leader Om Mathur, the talks don’t seem to have moved ahead.

“He has asked us to start looking at seats which were not on the Sena’s list and see which candidates can be brought on the seats that are with the BJP. This is a ploy by the BJP to get more seats and win the CM’s post,” the leader said.
