"Uddhav lacks self-confidence as a person. How can he take care of the party?" Rane told reporters on the sidelines of a workers convention here.

"If I was Balasaheb's son, I would have avoided bringing him (Bal Thackeray) to Shivaji Park and made him speak at the Dussehra rally. It could be seen that Saheb is really not in good health," he said.

"As his son I would have assured him that I would carry forward his work in the same manner as he did for 42 years," Rane added.

Lashing out at the Sena leader for saying that Mumbai belongs to 'our fathers', Rane wondered, "how can Mumbai belong to people who do not pay taxes? Our fathers' names are also there in land records and property cards."

Rane said Uddhav's speech at last night's rally was "useless".

"He has spoken nothing except criticising Raj Thackeray, myself and the Congress. He has not outlined any agenda for development of Mumbai and Maharashtra," he said.

"Rane, who is the Revenue Minister, should check the land records to see if Uddhav and his family has purchased the megapolis. Mumbai belongs to our fathers also and the entire country," he said.
