The Ujjain Municipal Corporation, which organises felicitation of excellent teachers every year on Teachers’ Day on September 5, has decided to put off the programme this time.
The decision was taken in view of brutal killing of professor HS Sabharawal at Madhav College recently. Mayor Soni Meher said the council members would congregate to pay homage to the deceased professor tomorrow.
Similarly, the Teachers' Manch would also observe the birth anniversary of former Vice president S Radhakrishnan without any formal event. Convener Harish Pradhan said the teachers would congregate at Madhav College in the morning to pay floral tribute to Radhakrishnan.
The gathering after paying homage to deceased professor HS Sabharawal would take out a silent march to Shaheed Park.
