The lawyer of a London bombing suspect being held in Rome has appealed against his extradition to Britain over fears that he would not get a fair trial.
Maria Antonietta Sonnessa said on Friday she had lodged appeal papers with Italy's Supreme Court because she feared he would not receive a fair trial in Britain.
On August 17, a Rome court decided that 27-year-old Hamdi Adus Issac could be extradited within 35 days to Britain, where he is wanted for trying to blow himself up in Shepherd's Bush underground station.
The Ethiopian-born suspect has said he wants to stay in Italy.
The appeal is scheduled to be heard September 13, ANSA news agency reported on Friday.
Issac, who was living in London under the name Osman Hussein, was arrested in Rome a week after the failed July 21 attacks on London's transport system.
Isaac has maintained he did not intend to harm people by detonating a rucksack bomb, and that he merely wanted to carry out a "demonstrative action."
