The group, in the latest edition of its mouthpiece Freedom, said environment-friendly technology, use of fuel from more various sources and development in agriculture are necessary for Assam's progress.

"An atmosphere for developing integrity among the races and tribes must be set up along with maintaining balance of environment. To meet the evil effects of environmental changes the most essential requirement is suitable political atmosphere along with money and knowledge," the ULFA said.

"As far as taking initiative in Assam, befitting endeavour on international protection of environment has political problem. Activities like free excavation in Assam, drilling of natural gas and its subsequent burning building dams on the rivers of Arunachal Pradesh are pillage by occupational forces and exploitative political decisions," it said.

Noting that politics in Assam is not carried out for safeguarding interests of the people, it said, "Rather it's pillage and exploitation. Hence the cooperation of the masses of Assam to face the global warming issues is as relevant as the issues of restoration of sovereignty in Assam".
