THE STATE-OF THE-ART CT scan facility started at MY Hospital by Nicholas Piramal India Ltd on Friday would not only benefit poor patients but would also be useful for college students, Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi said.
“There are several private facilities available in Indore. But the installation of this machine at MYH with private partnership will prove to be an important step in view of the exposure it will give to students of MGM Medical College,” Vishnoi said at a function organised on MY Hospital premises to inaugurate the CT Scanner (64 slice) facility here on Friday.
Emphasising that this facility would offer latest tests at comparatively lesser cost to poor patients, the Health Minister said other costs like the amount spent on transportation of patients would also reduce. Stating that such state-of-the-art machines are too costly and possibly the government would think twice before purchasing them, Vishnoi said, “Private partnership offers the advantage of getting the latest technique here.”
Talks are on to start a similar facility with Nicholas Piramal’s help at Jabalpur Government College and hospital. MP Sumitra Mahajan praised the private company for not only manufacturing drugs and pharma products but also for providing services by way of such diagnostic facilities.

Nicholas Piramal would also offer MRI tests services at the diagnostic facility here, which goes under the brand name of ‘Wellspring’.
Earlier, company CFO N Santhanam said it is for the first time that Wellspring has associated with a government medical college and hospital.
There are 70 such facilities across 40 locations all over the country, which help in the overall reduction of disease burden, he added.
MGM Medical College dean Dr M K Saraswat also spoke on the occasion. Wellspring president Girish Mehta proposed the vote of thanks and S K Jayant conducted the programme.
