Undertrial found dead in jail

An undertrial was today found dead under mysterious circumstances in Assam's Morigaon district jail in Morigaon, official sources said.

The accused, Nihar Bordoloi, was found dead in his cell by jail authorities this morning.

The cause of his death was yet to be ascertained and his body has been sent for post-mortem to Morigaon Civil Hospital.

Bordoloi was lodged in the jail for the last three months after he was arrested for being allegedly involved in the killing of his neighbour.

This is the third incident of unnatural death in Morigaon District Jail this year with two others, including a woman, having committed suicide.
