Subodh alias Munna had complained that he was unable to hear in one of his ears. Subsequently, the Etawah district judge had, on August 7, ordered the jail superintendent to ensure the undertrial received expert medical attention.

So, two constables escorted the accused to the OPD ward of the Hallet Hospital. However, they were asked to get check up done at the emergency ward. From there, they were directed to go to Ward No. 10, falling under the ENT Department.

Upon arrival and much to their chagrin, they were told to go back to the emergency ward. However, the staff re-routed them once again to the ENT Department.

By now, they had wasted about four hours. However, luckily, they came across a resident doctor, who after enquiring about the problem of the accused prescribed some medicines.

It was only at 4.15 pm that the three left the hospital for Etawah.
