Minister for Urban Development Mohammad Azam Khan tabled the Uttar Pradesh (supplementary grants for 2006-2007) Bill 2006 in the Vidhan Sabha. It was adopted by a voice vote.

Besides the sum sanctioned to provide unemployment allowance, the House also approved a sum of Rs 30 crore to provide concession to powerloom weavers.
Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was present in House when it passed the supplementary grants. Leader of Opposition Lalji Tandon was conspicuous by his absence.

Speaking on the occasion, Khan said the Opposition should have lauded the efforts of the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government to pay ‘unemployment allowance’ to unemployed graduates and postgraduates.

Khan referred to the points that Bharatiya Janata Party member Hukum Singh and Congress member Jagdambika Pal had raised, while speaking on the supplementary demands for grants in the House.
