This is the story of Aley Miyan, an epitome of Hindu-Muslim unity for hundreds of residents of Qazipur-Bhapatpur village in Handia tehsil of the district.
His humility and his actions, cutting across barriers of caste and creed, so endeared him to people of his village that a section of residents performed his ‘terhi’ on Saturday.
Another section has decided to observe ‘chehellum’ in his memory on Sunday.
Those performing the two rituals from different religious communities say they have never seen, or heard anything like this before.

A teacher by profession, Aley Miyan later became the pradhan of his village.
He utilised the funds wholly for development of his village. Everybody knew that not a single rupee would be misused. Having no children, Aley Miyan considered everybody his own child.
