THE UNIVERSITY Services Officers on Sunday expressed their reservations about the proposed administrative reforms in universities and threatened to launch phase wise agitation if the recommendations were not put on the hold.
The officers also decided to submit memoranda to the governor, chief minister, education minister, secretary of the University Coordination Committee (principal secretary of higher education department) and others on Monday to demand cancelling reform process in the present form.
The decisions in these respects were taken during the general body meeting of the MP State University Services Officers Association held at the Guest House of the Barkatullah University (BU) and announced by president of the association Dr Sanjay Tiwari (registrar of BU) at a press conference held after the meeting.
If the demand was acceded within 15 days, the officers would launch phase-wise agitation from October 4, culminating into indefinite strike form October 17, Dr Tiwari said.
The members expressed serious discontent over the proposed reforms saying that they would directly and negatively impact the university officers. They said that though the basis of the proposed reforms is good the intention seem to be against the university officials.
They also charged that the entire intention appear to be directed to give vice-chancellors more authority while curtailing powers of the registrars. They also said that it was true that the registrars were over burdened with responsibilities and working should be decentralised, but the decision to give professors power equivalent to registrars was totally unacceptable.

{{/usCountry}}The phase-wise agitation would be taken up in the following manner – wearing black badges to work from October 4 to 6 as token protest, starting work an hour late from October 7 to 9, starting work two hours late from October 10 to 13, mass leave on October 16, chain hunger strike from October 17 to October 20 and then indefinite strike from October 17.
General secretary of the association Dr B Bharti was also present at the press conference. The state president of MP Rajya Adhikari Sangh Dr R K Chourasia attended the meeting as special guest.
STATE OFFICERS SUPPORT: The MP Rajya Adhikari Sangh has expressed displeasure over the proposed administrative reforms in state universities and has pledged support to any action by the University officers in this respect including the phase-wise agitation, the president Dr R K Chourasia said in a statement on Sunday.
