At least two students were injured in the clash that erupted on Friday night, forcing authorities to deploy more than 200 policemen in and around the Vani Vihar campus, inspector in charge of the police station JK Das told IANS.

"Tension is running high. The university authorities have asked students to vacate the campus at the earliest. We have detained at least seven students for questioning," he added.

The Utkal University was established in 1943.
