LUCKNOW UNIVERSITY (LU) administration has condemned strongly the action of unscrupulous students against the police who have to ensure law and order on the campus. LU V-C RP Singh has solicited support from students, teachers, officials and all citizens concerned to help varsity administration take a firm stand against those who violate law.
The V-C said: “We’re committed to an academic system free from such unruly and undisciplined elements. They need to be uprooted once and for all.” Singh reiterated that all those responsible for ransacking proctor’s office and his vehicle as also of other teachers, would not be spared. Strict action will be taken against them, as there was no room for indiscipline on the campus, he said.
According to the V-C, LU administration has already approached district administration and the Chancellor for support. “Academic programmes of the varsity require transparent administration and disciplined students,” reads the V-C’s official communiqué. He adds that LU is committed towards restoration of its academic glory and meet the challenges with new courses for global appeal.
LU administration, however, reiterated that counselling work would take place as per schedule. All candidates concerned are expected to attend the counselling or lose the seat. LU has renewed its commitment to improve the academic atmosphere on the campus. Teachers and other officials of the varsity too expressed shock over today’s incident.

{{/usCountry}}Proctor AN Singh dubbed the unruly elements as “criminal” and pledged that stern action would be initiated against the lawbreakers. He expressed shock and dismay at the way the students (read criminal elements) raised hell on the campus. Irate mob today damaged several vehicles, including of the proctor and additional proctor.
Later in the evening, top officials of police and district administration held a meeting with student leaders asking them to cooperate in nailing culprits who created ruckus on the campus on Saturday. The police said the guilty would be punished but priority was to restore peace on the campus.
