UNRULY SCENES were witnessed in the Vidhan Sabha when the Congress levelled charges against former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against Sonia Gandhi.

Later, they demanded that the remarks against two leaders be expunged.

As both the sides continued to make their point to press the demand that remarks be expunged from proceedings, pandemonium continued disrupting debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor. The members could be pacified only after presiding officer Vanshi Dhar Raj declared that objectionable remarks would be expunged.

It all began when Congress member Jagdambika Pal spoke high of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and referred to what he called her ‘sacrifice’ by not accepting the post of Prime Minister. At this point, BJP member Bharat Singh rose from his seat and tried to counter Pal’s observations. Singh made some observations against Sonia Gandhi that could not be heard in the din.

Other BJP members also rose on their respective seats to make their point.
