The United Nations Security Council has agreed to impose sanctions against three opponents of peace in Ivory Coast.
Greece's UN Ambassador Adamantios Vassilakis, who chairs the Security Council sanctions committee on Ivory Coast, said "everybody responded positively to the proposal that has been made" to impose sanctions, but a public announcement was held up because of "bureaucratic" reasons.
The sanctions committee informed the 15 council members on Friday that it wanted to impose targeted sanctions like asset freeze and travel ban on three individuals.
US Ambassador John Bolton, the current council president, refused to comment on the US problem, saying that he also expected a public announcement.
"There are some logistical difficulties and some formalities in place for the sanctions to take effect," he said.
