UP Assembly elections by May 14: CEC

EC on Saturday said the revised voters' list for the UP Assembly elections would be published in January.

The Election Commission on Saturday said the revised voters' list for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections would be published in January and the poll process completed by May 14 next year.

"The dates for the elections are yet to be finalised, but in any case, it will be completed by May 14, before the tenure of the current Assembly expires," Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswamy told reporters in Lucknow.

The CEC arrived in the state capital on Friday evening for hearing objections and suggestions on the ongoing delimitation process for Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies in 11 districts of central Uttar Pradesh.

He will be hearing complaints and suggestions of five more districts of central UP on Sunday.
