The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has resolved to punish the examiners, who are found violating the evaluation scale fixed for the High School and Intermediate examination for 2006.
A decision to this effect had been taken by the board following the complaints of overlooking norms by around 180 examiners while evaluating the answersheets in the last year's board examinations.
These examiners have already been barred from 2006 examination for not complying with the Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad's instructions of checking the answersheets on pattern of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Now as per the board's decision, if any irregularity is committed in giving marks, the examiner concerned will be held responsible directly.
The major chunk, 85 per cent of remuneration of guilty examiners may be deducted immediately. The board has fixed up a scale for punishing the examiners through slashing their remuneration on the ground of errors during evaluation of answersheets.
Apart from this, the answersheets shall be cross checked by another examiner to ensure more transparency in the evaluation system. Observers will be appointed at the evaluation centres to monitor the new evaluation system, said the board sources.
However, the board will organise a training programme for examiners prior to evaluation work. To recall, the UP Board has adopted the CBSE evaluation pattern in its High School and Intermediate examinations. Its details will be shown to examiners through CD so that they become well aware about step-to-step marking system.

{{/usCountry}}Arrangement is being made to ensure that no examiner be allowed to check the copies without going through the training programme. As per the rules, one chief examiner will evaluate an answersheet and that will become a model copy.
Meanwhile, preparations are on to conduct the board examination for the year 2006 in March. Most of the schools have completed the High School and Intermediate courses and have now undertaken revision work.
