IN ORDER to be on the global information technology (IT) map, UP should venture to create an IT-corridor between Kanpur and Lucknow and provide required infrastructure for IT-based industries. CEO of vMoksha Technologies Pawan Kumar said this while inaugurating the two-day technical festival ‘Incord-2006’ at the Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI) here on Saturday.
The CEO said the IT industry was in fact the future generation industry which had a great potential for fetching revenue and providing job opportunities to millions of young men. He said it was wrong to say that the promotion to this industry would create employment problems in the country. At present, the industry has created millions of new jobs, he added.
He said, “We need to focus on the production of hardware, an area where we are far behind. No doubt we have surpassed China in software production but, we have not been able to compete with the hardware production rate attained by China.”
He said, “Though we are good hardware designers but we lacked adequate infrastructure and entrepreneurship for setting up hardware industry. Since China does not prefer any kind of collaboration in this industry we will have to develop it with all our available resources.”
Referring to business potential, Pawan said that according to a survey report of NASCO published on December 16, 2005 by 2010 the country would be able to export IT services amounting to $ 60 billion. The report also suggested that if adequate infrastructure was provided India could increase the export volume by $ 15 billion more by 2010. He said infrastructure mean ‘developing an integrated township’ on the Gurgaon basis where the entrepreneurs enjoyed hassle-free production environment. Besides, the government should encourage private and public partnership to ensure better results.

{{/usCountry}}He urged the engineering students that they should come forward to bridge the gap between the IT technology and its users. He said only 10 per cent of Internet facilities were exploited as yet. According to a rough estimate during the next five years out of six billion population of the world only one billion people could be the user of Internet. The gap of five billion was to bridge by marketing the best IT technologies.
He said Indian engineers were visionary and had the ability to produce better quality cost effective hardware. Since they lacked entrepreneurship, adequate infrastructure, marketing and branding acumen and above all interacting spirit which devoid them of attaining desired success.
