Viewing next year's assembly election in Uttar Pradesh to be the "most important" one, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has said it would decide the country's political future in which the Samajwadi Party would play a major role.
He also refuted Congress President Sonia Gandhi's charge that her Lok Sabha constituency was being given step-motherly treatment and said "she is telling a lie.

"The assembly election scheduled in the state next year would be the most important one so far as it will decide the political future of the country. The SP will play a major role in this," he said addressing public meetings at Kachauraghat and Payampura villages, about 60 km from Agra on Monday.
It was likely the election would be conducted in seven stages similar to the recent West Bengal assembly poll held in five phases and police and central paramilitary would be posted at every booth.
