The Commission raised objections to a letter received by it from the Transmission Corporation. “What is this Transmission Corporation? Who gave licence to it? Was any notification issued for its creation?,” asked the commission.

UPERC Chairman Vijoy Kumar said that it was only by default that the Commission came to know about the existence of the transmission utility.

Neither the Government nor the UPPCL ever informed the commission about it, he said. The UPPCL, a distribution company, a few days back claimed to have dissociated itself from the transmission of power as required under the Electricity Act. It also claimed to have carved out a different corporation responsible for transmission of electricity.

Meanwhile, the UP Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) on Monday issued a conditional no objection certificate (NOC) for setting up of 250 MW units two each at the Harduaganj and the Parichha thermal stations.

Besides, it would also be required to adopt a zero-discharge system to avoid any industrial discharge.
