A peeved Chaudhary Prem Singh, president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, on Monday sought an appointment with party chief Sonia Gandhi to complain about his alleged sidelining in the distribution of tickets for the assembly elections.

Sources in the party said Prem Singh is upset because Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Outer Delhi strongman Sajjan Kumar are close to claiming a lion’s share of seats for their followers. It seems former union minister Jagdish Tytler too hasn’t been having much luck with pushing his men through in Delhi Sadar, his sphere of influence.

Sources said Dikshit and Kumar have gained an upper hand in the past two days. This has apparently happened through the good offices of Ahmed Patel, who is considered close to Sonia. A sign of “changing equations”, apparently, is the fact that a rank outsider who was not even in the list of probables is now the frontrunner for the Janakpuri ticket.
