The Uttar Pradesh Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has called an important meeting tomorrow to finally decide as to what to do when the corporation is not filing the Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR)/ tariff proposal despite repeated reminders.

Sources said the UPERC might also decide tomorrow to reduce the existing power tariff, taking it for granted that the UPPCL did not require more revenue to meet its expenditure.

The corporation has, many times, sought extension of the deadline set by the regulator for filing the tariff proposal. The last time was on February 28. The same happened last year also when the corporation did not file the proposal.

Now, the commission feels that enough is enough and it must exercise its powers under the Electricity Act 2003 which gives it many options.
