UPSRTC staff threaten strike

MEMBERS of the Roadway Employees Association of Gorakhpur and Basti division took out a rally and handed over a six-point memorandum to the GM Roadways, demanding immediate redressal of their long- pending demands. They also threatened to block the operation of buses from the midnight of December 13 if their demands were not fulfilled. They shouted slogans and indicated that employees were not in a mood to relent on these issues.

They shouted slogans and indicated that employees were not in a mood to relent on these issues.

Members of Basti, Deoria, Siddharth Nagar and Nichlaul depots along with 13 branches of roadways tyre shops and office employees participated in this rally.

It started from DM’s premises, passed through various routes and converted into a meeting at the office of GM Roadways. Expressing his views on this occasion, divisional secretary of the employees union Jaiprakash Dubey condemned the apathetic attitude of the State government in merging 50 per cent dearness allowances in their basic salary.

He also demanded that the ban imposed on the recruitment on compassionate ground should be revoked and said the service period of employees union should be extended.

They said Roadways employees along with others departmental employees would go on indefinite strike from December 14. Union leaders Ramesh Tiwari, M Ashraf, Shesh Mani Prasad, Jawala Prasad, Sadanand Yadav, Durgesh Mishra, Zainul Abdeen, Radheraman and others blamed State government for ignoring the demands of the employees .

They said State government had yet not cleared the dearness allowance from January 2002 to July 2004 despite repeated reminders.
