Urvashi Gulati likely to be information commissioner

The Haryana government has set in motion the process of appointing new state information commissioners (SICs), with a committee constituted by the state government to pick the SICs scheduled to meet on Tuesday.

The Haryana government has set in motion the process of appointing new state information commissioners (SICs), with a committee constituted by the state government to pick the SICs scheduled to meet on Tuesday.

The name of present chief secretary, Urvashi Gulati who retires on March 31 is expected to be recommended for the post. The appointment is made by the governor on the recommendations of the committee. Haryana chief minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda is the chairperson of the committee besides leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Om Prakash Chautala and education minister, Geeta Bhukkal as members.

Ex-IAS officer Naresh Gulati is the state chief information commissioner of Haryana state information commission. The commission has two state information commissioners — MR Ranga and Prem Veer Singh. Naresh Gulati who resigned last year from the civil service to be sworn in as state chief information commissioner is the husband of present chief secretary Urvashi Gulati.
