INDIA IS a land of happening events, growing economy and above all gregarious people, said one of the members of the delegation from Montana State University, Billings, USA, while talking to mediapersons at the Department of Economics, Allahabad University, on Sunday.
Dr Rakesh Sah, assistant professor at the College of Business at Montana State University said the purpose of the delegation’s visit here was to explore the esoteric opportunities in the field of education and research.
“The visit was also part of the course curriculum our students,” he added.
He also hinted at a possibility of starting Montana State University’s online courses for AU students soon.
Earlier, head of the Department of Economics, AU, Prof PN Mehrotra introduced the delegation to mediapersons.
He said their visit would pave the way for various educational exchange programmes between the two institutions. Under the educational exchange programmes, the students would be able to study for an entire semester, he said.
He expressed hope that AU students might visit Montana State University in the near future with the help of funds from the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development.
Replying to a question, Dr Rakesh Sah said despite recent restrictions in the visa policy of USA, the influx of students from India to USA was rising every year.
However, Dr Mary McNally, professor of management studies at Montana State University, expressed hope that the restrictions would be eased out in a phased manner with the fading memories of 9/11.

One of the visiting students, Alexis Brill, said she was bowled over by the hospitality and humility of the Indians during their visit to Jaipur, Agra, Varanasi and Khajuraho.
The 18-member delegation, comprising both students and faculty members, will leave for New Delhi on Tuesday.
