Pakistan Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas, Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has said that the US may mediate between Pakistan and India to help resolve the Kashmir issue.

He also said that the forthcoming visit of US President George Bush to the two countries was "very significant in this regard".

Replying to a question whether the US could assume the role of mediator between Pakistan and India on Kashmir, Hayat said, "it was likely".
Pakistan had approached Saudi Arabia, Turkey and other friendly states like the US to bring just settlement to Kashmir problem, The Nation quoted the minister as saying.
