US military authorities Wednesday were searching for a Navy plane reported missing during a training flight in Florida, the Navy said in a statement.

It said the T-39 Sabreliner failed to return to its base in Pensacola, Florida, following a training mission.

"Military officials lost contact with the aircraft around 5 pm, January 10," the statement said.

A civilian pilot, a Navy instructor, a Navy student and an Air Force student were aboard the plane.
