At a press conference at the State Department the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice also made it clear that if Teheran chose not to abandon its present plans Washington will act to protect its common interests in the region that are at risk.

Rice also made it clear that the Bush administration is not taking up the subject of diplomatic resumption of ties with Iran at this time and no options are off the table either at a time when the United States is making some major overtures.
