Haley — one of the Delaware’s most well-known restaurateurs and owned eight popular restaurants in the state’s beach resort towns — was on a private visit to Jammu and Kashmir’s Ladakh district. He was riding a motorcycle in the mountains near Leh when, according to police, the motorcycle skidded on the road and met with an accident.

Police said Haley went into a coma soon after the accident.

“He was first treated at a local hospital in Leh, but later air-lifted to Delhi; however, died on the way,” said Sunil Gupta, superintendent of police (SP), Leh. Ladakh is also called the ‘land of high passes’, which lies between the Kunlun Mountain range in the north and the Great Himalayas to the south. The area is a favourite destination for foreign tourists.
