?Use funds for poor properly?

Jaiswal was addressing a gathering at a function organised by the non-governmental organisation ‘Smile’ which is engaged in taking care of children’s health and education, here on Sunday.

He said that in India about 50 per cent population required help from other sources for their day-to-day needs, but despite various kinds of social welfare schemes the government was not able to provide enough relief to the poor and the downtrodden.

He said rich people should extend all help to the social organisations genuinely engaged in bettering the lot of the poor and deprived people of the society. Lauding the efforts of those engaged such efforts he said social service was the best religion.

Hailing the efforts of the ‘Smile’, Jaiswal said that Kanpur had a large industrial base and several industrialists, who were keen on helping the poor, but very few social organisations in the city were actually committed to doing social services.
Therefore, the industrialists always faced difficulties in getting the right platform for their involvement in social services, he said. He hoped that with the entry of ‘Smile’ in Kanpur, the industrialist community of the city would find a proper forum for their involvement.
