ASSOCIATION OF Indian Teachers of French (AITF) president Prof K Madangobalane has said modern technologies should be incorporated in French studies.
He was addressing the inaugural function of a two-day national seminar on ‘De nouvelles voies pour enseigner le francais—Innovative ways of teaching French in Indian context’ at Bharat Kala Bhawan auditorium in Banaras Hindu University on Friday.
The French Studies Department of BHU has organised the seminar.
An eminent scholar of French language, Prof Madangobalane stressed the need of a special approach to disseminate knowledge of French studies in India.
He said the higher education system needed a multi-dimensional approach in this connection. He also informed the participants about various activities of AITF.
Former head of the Faculty of Humanities at Pondichery University, Prof R Kichenamourty, called upon the teachers and students of French studies to explore the possibilities of using multi-media, Internet, teleconferencing etc for optimising the results of teaching and learning French in India.
Prof Kichenamourty said the theme of the seminar was most relevant at this point in time, as a lot of changes were taking place in the teaching and learning process across the country and abroad. He said modern techniques should be introduced in the methodology of French studies.
Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof SL Jain said participants should also ponder over ways to use texts written in French for teaching and learning in a non-French environment and introducing new techniques in French studies.
