The same smart tag that you use on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway would help you zoom past the DND Flyway in Noida. You would also be able to use the same electronic device for parking vehicles at parking lots of airports, malls and other important locations in Delhi and NCR towns.
Sounds like a dream? This may be a reality soon.
DSC Limited, the concessionaire company of Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, completed one year of its operations on Monday. The 27.7 km long signal free tolled road was opened for motorists in January last year.
Manhad Narula, the director of the company, said efforts were being made to introduce new facilities for motorists well before the Commonwealth Games. Also the company plans to make the Delhi border toll plaza the world's biggest by widening it from 32 lanes to 50 lanes, introducing free-flow barrier less tag lanes on the lines of 42-lane Melbourne City Toll Plaza. They would install speed regulating machines and weighing in motion machines to check overloaded trucks from plying on the stretch.
"We are in the process of talking with DND Flyway authorities, mall owners as well as other authorities for introducing interoperability of the smart tag. User of this tag would be able to use the same on other tolled roads of Delhi and NCR. The tag could be used for parking vehicles at airport parking lots or at malls also," said Narula.

{{/usCountry}}At present about 80,000 vehicles use smart tags which is just 40 per cent of the total traffic volume on the expressway. "We plan to increase the percentage of tag user to 60-70. With this we would be able to introduce free-flow barrier less tag lanes by the end of 2009. There won’t be a need to even halt for a second at the toll plazas."
