Which are the hottest emerging sectors?

Entertainment (resorts/event management/films/TV / Radios/Amusement Parks/Pools parlours/Bowling Alleys), Insurance, Financial Services, IT Enabled Services (BPOs and Call Centres), Biotech, Design (Product Design, Fashion, Animation) and Information Technology.

As the jobs market in India opens up, will the phenomenon remain city-centric? Or will it move towards semi-urban centres as well?
It will primarily remain city centric. However, it will move from metros to smaller cities to semi urban centres. In fact, in many sectors, employers are already thinking of setting up shop in places like Pune, Chandigarh, Vizag, etc.

In the emerging jobs market scenario, do people with technical (read IT and Communications) background have an edge over people with a background in softer skills, like Tourism and Services sector?
Not necessarily. Markets are job specific given that even doctors and Engineers can't be guaranteed jobs. A sector like Event Management for instance has grown at a rate of 500 percent.
