Dubious role of a cop is surfacing in the murder of Vaishali, a 20-year-old girl who was shot dead by a miscreant in Katra recently. As a result the DIG has ordered an inquiry into the role of this cop.
On their part the Colonelganj police is yet to find out who was this man in uniform as there are two cops by the same name. One is a constable in the Special Operation Group (SOG) while the other is posted as station officer at a police station in the district.
Although the cop was not directly involved in the murder but if the version of the victim's father, Rajeshwar Prasad Gupta, is to be believed the cop was a big trouble maker in the life of the dead girl. It all began due to this policeman who was after his daughter, says Gupta. When he failed to have his way with her he took the help of Pawan Jaiswal, the murder accused, who has recently surrendered in a court.

{{/usCountry}}A day before the murder Pawan, the accused, had proposed to marry Vaishali but she had rebuffed the overtures, said Gupta.
This angered Pawan and he shot at Vaishali on January 3 in the Samia Mai temple near Luxmi Talkies in Katra. Vaishali had gone to the temple along with her younger sister Khushboo to offer prayers. After shooting Vaishali in the head the miscreant had escaped on a mobike which is said to be in police custody.
Vaishali was rushed to the SRN Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on January 7.
Vaishali's father on his part accuses cops for being hand in glove with the miscreants. There were three other associates of the killer who have not been touched by the police till now. Talking to HT Allahabad Live he alleged that cops were trying to twist this case in their own style. Nobody is ready to listen to our side of the story. The killers are now threatening Khushboo who is a witness in the murder to retract from her statement, alleged the father.
