Rano Devi and Sangeeta Bajaj, both residents of Delhi, were in Jammu to take a pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine, they said.

The two women fell ill after consuming some food item at a local guest house, they said, adding they were rushed to the Government Medical Hospital (GMC) in Jammu.

While Rano Devi died on her way to the hospital, Sangeeta is said to be in a critical condition and undergoing treatment at the facility, officials said.

Police has registered a case and were questioning relatives and guest house employees in this connection.

Devi's body has been handed over to her family for last rites.
