Varsity employees? strike continues

THE ONGOING strike by university employees continued on Thursday as the meeting between the employees? union and university officials failed to reach any amicable solution. The employees are on strike to demand suspension of the finance officer. As a result, all admission work has come to a grinding halt.

THE ONGOING strike by university employees continued on Thursday as the meeting between the employees’ union and university officials failed to reach any amicable solution. The employees are on strike to demand suspension of the finance officer. As a result, all admission work has come to a grinding halt.

Though the authorities have made a promise to consider the demands by August 17, employees’ leaders said only lip service would not satisfy them and that they wanted action against the said officer. Continuing their agitation on Thursday, the employees raised slogans against the authorities and organised a meeting at the administrative building. Expressing his views on this occasion, president of university employees’ union, Dr BN Singh, said the authorities were only making empty promises and no concrete step had been taken to redress the employees long-pending demands.

Singh said the university council had provided them sevarl facilities but the proposal was pending in the finance committee which was highly condemnable.
