NO WONDER the special flying squad of Lucknow University (LU) are doing a great job by catching copycats.
But, some degree colleges don’t think so. They have raised serious objections to the erratic behaviour of some of the “enterprising teachers.” They alleged at times the squad members come with preconceived notions and initiate action without accumulating proper evidence.
Peeved at the attitude of the squad, teachers of the Shia PG College met LU controller of examination RBS Verma and apprised him of their grievances. In their memorandum, the Shia College teachers stated that they were pained with the behaviour of the squad members and alleged that the squad had hatched conspiracy to defame the college.
They also demanded induction of the senior teachers in the flying squad.
Shia College teachers say most of the young teachers of the team have no respect for the senior teachers engaged in the examination duty. “Also they show no respect to the college principal MS Naqvi,” the teachers alleged. In their memorandum to LU, these teachers demanded that the varsity was well advised to nominate some senior teachers to the team who could guide the youngsters in performing their duties properly.
The Shia College teachers have offered LU to conduct the examination of its students if it feels that teachers are not doing their duties properly. Principal Naqvi told this newspaper that college has no objection with the copycats being held from the college. “But we definitely object to their reports of mass copying. Such adverse report will certainly affect the prospects of the serious students which is not acceptable,” he said.

This will certainly affect the prospect of some of the bright students of the college who have studied hard all through the year. We’re not against copycats being held from out college but what we object is daily reports of mass copying by the squad which is baseless and aimed at to defame the college.”
Controller of examination Verma said: “The teachers of the college have apprised him of their grievances. They are unhappy with the behaviour of some of the young members of the team. I’ve asked chief proctor AN Singh to look into the matter. The principal of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose College has also called me up. These things do take place and one should take much notice of it. Things will be sorted out.”
The varsity administration reiterated that they are committed to conduct copying free examination. So far about 600 copycats have been held from LU and other degree colleges. Needless to mention even last year similar crack down was carried out but later they were all exonerated as no action was mooted against any of the copycats. Will the same thing take place this year as well?
