International president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Ashok Singhal on Sunday called on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at the latter's official residence in Gandhinagar.

Singhal is understood to have discussed several issues including implications of the Liberhan Commission report, which has indicted top leaders of Sangh Pariwar outfits like BJP, Bajrang Dal and VHP for demolition of Babri mosque in Ayodhya in 1992.

"Ashokji met Chief Minister Modi and it was a courtesy visit," a senior VHP leader said, adding that he had met RSS and VHP leaders of the state yesterday and discussed current issues with them.
