The annual report of the Board which was tabled in the Assembly here on Thursday said it had pointed out that funds were not made available to Vidarbha region as per outlays proposed in the district annual plan, including backlog provision.

The region got a meagre 18 per cent from its allotted funds in the last financial year.

While urging the Governor to take an appropriate step in this direction, it suggested equitable and judicious distribution of special funds made available to the board. The board also proposed a formula to allocate funds to remove the backlogs in its annual report.

Earlier, the Governor Krishna had expressed his displeasure for diverting the allotted funds for Vidarbha to other regions of the state.

These boards are responsible not to the legislature, but to the Governor, who exercise direct control over them.

The constitution also authorises the Governor to give specific directions to the state government on the allotment of funds to remove development backlogs of these regions.
