Vidhu Vinod Chopra to remake Parinda

The filmmaker is toying with the idea of remaking Parinda with an international cast and has tentatively titled it Broken Horses, reports Vajir Singh.

For years Vidhu Vinod Chopra has been dreaming of making a film in English with an international cast.

Now the buzz is that he's toying with the idea of remaking Parinda (1989) which featured Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Anupam Kher and Madhuri Dixit. The new film is tentatively titled Broken Horses.

Well, the spokesperson from Vinod Chopra Films denies the news which the film trade insists it is true.

The film will be backed by Reliance Entertainment and is set in Mexico city which is known for its underworld undercurrents. Chopra wants to rope in Amitabh Bachchan to play the ruthless don who has a fire phobia, a role essayed to perfection by Nana Patekar.

Parinda was about two brothers caught on the opposite sides of the law. Chopra supposedly has two top-raking Hollywood actors in mind to play the brothers in his westside story .

Parinda was a critical and commercial hit. It was also India's official entry for the 63rd Annual Academy Awards in Best Foreign Language Film category.
