There has been no improvement in the condition of Union science and technology minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, who was admitted to a Chennai hospital with cirrhosis and multiple organ failure on Monday evening.

“The situation is the same as it was last evening -- stable, but on life support systems. He has to remain under observation for another two or three days before doctors can take any decision on a liver transplant,” a hospital source said.
A statement from the office of the chairman of Global Health City, where the former Maharashtra chief minister is being treated, said on Wednesday.
"Vilasrao is stable. First, he has to improve. Then we will think about a liver transplant."
Nobody, other than doctors attending on Deshmukh, select staff and relatives, are allowed on the first floor hospital ward where the family is also lodged.
Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan, deputy cm Ajit Pawar and several ministers from the state were closeted with Deshmukh’s family, including film star-son, Riteish.
