SAGAR TOOK a huge lead of 122 runs against host Indore on the second day of the Hiralal Gaikwad Trophy under-19 cricket tournament being played at the ITI grounds on Saturday.

Resuming from the overnight score of 264/9, the Sagar wagged for a while. Pankaj Rao scored an unbeaten 17 while Abhishek Tiwari was dismissed after scoring 35. Sagar scored 278 taking a lead of 122 runs. Paras Jain, Amay Pankhe, Amit Joshi and Sachin Sanwer took two wickets each.

Host Indore had a disastrous start. The first wicket fell at the score of just seven runs and that was the beginning of the end.

The Indore batsmen seemed to be in a hurry to return to the pavilion. Madhav Saxena was the only batsman who batted brilliantly and scored an unbeaten 63 with eight boundaries.

Vishesh Dubey scored 26 and the rest of the batsmen were dismissed cheaply. The second wicket fell at the score of 14. Indore managed to score a paltry 156 conceding 122 runs.

After taking a comfortable lead, Sagar batted well in the second innings also. After 32 overs, the visitors were sitting pretty on 101/2 at the end of second day’s play taking the overall lead to 223.

Rajiv Sharma scored 35, while Manoj Singh was unbeaten on 49 with seven boundaries. Rameez Khan was batting on 10.
