THE POLICE team probing the case of mysterious disappearance of Electricity Service Commission (ESC) retired chairman SK Sharma has collected vital clues about his whereabouts and the motive behind his disappearance.

The clues indicated that those who had detained Sharma were forcing him to withdraw Rs 15 lakh deposited in a multi-national bank. The suspects were forcing him to ask his family members for the ATM card and withdraw the amount. The details further revealed that the suspects had assured to release Sharma after delivery of the amount.

Talking to HT, SSP Ashutosh Pandey said the investigation so far indicated that Sharma owed Rs 15 lakh to some acquaintances. And, he further said, Sharma was detained for the money only. The SSP denied that if there was any possibility of kidnapping of Sharma.

The cops probing the case revealed that Sharma himself had made the phone call and had asked the suspects to come to his residence on April 7. He had told his servant to wait for him, as he would be back soon. But, he did not return since then.

The probe team also revealed that suspects had come to know that there was an amount of Rs 15 lakh lying in Sharma’s account in a private bank and they just wanted to get it.The cops claimed to have got vital clues about the whereabouts of Sharma and said that they would rescue him soon.
