Vivek Kundra on leave from White House

Indian-American Vivek Kundra, who last week was appointed Federal Chief Technology Officer by President Barack Obama, is on leave from his White House job after the FBI raided his old district of Columbia government office.

Indian-American Vivek Kundra, who last week was appointed Federal Chief Technology Officer by President Barack Obama, is on leave from his White House job after the FBI raided his old district of Columbia government office.

Media reports said quoting White House officials that Kundra took this decision to go on leave after the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided the premises of his former Office of the Chief Technology Officer in the Government of Washington DC on a corruption related case.

Kundra, 34, was the Chief Technology Officer of Washington DC till last week, when Obama picked him as his infotech czar. The Washington Post, which first reported about the FBI raid, said Kundra was not suspected of any wrong doing.

Two individuals, including an Indian-American Sushil Bansal, have been arrested by the FBI in connection of the corruption charges, The Post said.

Yusuf Acar, an information security officer was the other person arrested.

Bansal is president and CEO of the Advances Integrated Technologies Corp and a contractor of the technology office. Quoting sources, The Post said Acar solicited and accepted bribes from Bansal and awarded contracts to his company.
