Minister of state for external affairs General VK Singh (retired), who has been at the centre of the ‘dog analogy’ controversy, was jeered at by some members of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
Singh, who is also the minister of state for statistics and programme implementation, was heckled by the Opposition when he laid the statement regarding status of implementation of recommendations and observations contained in the 14th report of the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance on Demands for Grants (2015-16).
It started with a few Congress MPs, who booed him when he was called by Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien to lay the papers listed against his name. When he was again called to make a statement regarding the status of implementation of the recommendations of the Standing Committee, BSP members joined their Congress counterparts in jeering him. Some members also shouted “VK Singh murdabad (down with VK Singh)”.
Order was restored in the House once he sat down after laying the papers.
In October, Singh had kicked up a row when he reacted to the killing of two Dalit children by reportedly saying that the government is not responsible if someone “throws stones at a dog”.
