VNN clerk caught taking bribe

SLEUTHS OF Anti-Corruption Cell caught a clerk of health department of Varanasi Nagar Nigam red handed, while taking Rs 26000 as bribe on Friday night. The action was taken on the complaint of a contractor Gopalji Rao.

SLEUTHS OF Anti-Corruption Cell caught a clerk of health department of Varanasi Nagar Nigam red handed, while taking Rs 26000 as bribe on Friday night. The action was taken on the complaint of a contractor Gopalji Rao.

As per information, Varanasi Nagar Nigam had released a tender notice for the purchase of animal skin on March 29, 2005. Gopal Rao had submitted a maximum bid amount of Rs 36, 905 against the tender on April 12. However, his bid was cancelled without giving information.

Nagar Nigam again released the same tender notice on April 13, 2006. This time, Gopal Rao again submitted a maximum bid of Rs 40,000 against the tender. He got the tender but he was asked to give Rs 50,000 for awarding the tender in his favour.

According to report, the clerk of the health department of VNN, Zubair Khan went to the house of Gopal Rao to get the first installment of bribe. Gopal Rao had already informed the anti-corruption cell about the situation.
