Top Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy, who was arrested in New Delhi , appears to have managed to procure a voter identity card in a different name from the national capital, police sources claimed on Tuesday.
Police have seized the voter identity card bearing the photo of Ghandy but with a different name 'Dilip Patel' using an address in west Delhi's Janakpuri, sources said.
This identity card is among CDs, a pendrive and laptop recovered from Ghandy after he was arrested by Delhi Police's Special Cell on September 21 from Bhikaji Kama Place following an intelligence input.
Residing in a rented accommodation in Badarpur and allegedly working to set up the base of the Naxalites, Ghandy was charged under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act with being a member of the banned terror organisation.
Ghandy, who is in charge of expanding the banned organisation's influence in urban areas, also used nine aliases like Dilip Patel, Narsi, Arvind, Rajan, Katif Ansari and others while he was staying in Delhi and other cities.
"We are interrogating him," Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal told reporters when asked about Ghandy. He was sent to three days police remand yesterday.
